nothing phone (3)
the dinner rule is phones face down. that's the side this phone plays on.
Phone (3) has a matrix of 489 LEDs on its back, the side that faces the table when you put your phone down at dinner. The film is one joke in three acts on that side: it lights the menu, counts down the group photo and spins the bottle to pick who pays. It lands on you.
The phone is Nothing's official 3D model, on a restaurant table built from scratch. Two short inserts from Nothing's own film are the only footage: about 92% of the 23 seconds is built.
the before, and the bar.
The first take was a product film on black: the phone turning in a void, one feature after another. It looked good, and it could have been any phone.
The bar for the rebuild: a joke with a story instead of a feature list; a world built around the product instead of a void; something new on screen every half second to second and a half; and the context readable without sound.

what I built.
- The table, plate, glass, menu and receipt, built around the official model and lit like dinner.
- The LED matrix animated frame by frame: a wink, the torch at full burst, all 489 LEDs counting in a spiral.
- Two real inserts from Nothing's film, turned 90° so they fill the 9:16 frame without upscaling.
- Sound tied to each event: the glass tap, the shutter, the bottle ticking to a stop, the ding on "( you pay )".
key frames.
